About

Reese Overlock grew up in San Diego, California. She began dancing at the age of three at Stage Door, training in both ballet and tap. After aging out of this studio, she continued her training at Evolution Dance Center. By the age of twelve, Reese joined the studio’s competition team where she competed in nearly all styles of dance, including jazz, contemporary, hip hop, lyrical, and musical theater. This experience provided her with experience as a team player, leadership skills and community building. Throughout her years competing with Evolution Dance Center, she earned a ballet scholarship at Velocity Dance Convention, multiple scholarships at Hollywood Connection Dance Convention, and multiple scholarships at Rainbow Dance Competition. From third through eighth grade, she attended a GATE charter school which fostered her love for writing and creative projects.

Reese attended San Marcos High School. During her freshman year, she joined Team Turnboard 2019 and began representing and traveling on brand trips with SimplyBE Dancewear, which she continued representing for all four years. Through SimplyBE, she modeled their dancewear on brand trips all around the country and promoted the brand on her social media. Representing these brands grew her passion for social media and gave her lifelong skills that she utilizes to this day. By her sophomore year, she chose to continue her training at Lynch Dance Institute to put an emphasis on her ballet technique and artistry. Throughout high school, she competed on the San Marcos Varsity Dance Team, where she competed in Miss Drill Team USA’s pageants and earned Top 5 in 2022. Throughout high school, she advanced her ballet training by attending the 2020 Ballet Austin Summer Intensive on ZOOM (due to COVID-19 restrictions), and later trained with them again at the 2022 Ballet Austin Summer Intensive. At these intensives, she took ballet technique, partnering, master classes in contemporary and street dance genres, and learned repertoire that she performed in 2022 at the end of the three-week intensive.

Since graduating high school with honors and a 4.3 GPA in 2022, Reese is now finishing her fourth year at the University of California, Santa Barbara earning her BFA in Dance. In her fourth year, she danced with the UCSB Dance Company. Throughout her time at UCSB, she’s taken classes in digital editing, creative writing, writing for visual arts, and multimedia writing where she combined passion for writing with her passion for digital media. In her junior year, Reese created her first choreographic work titled “Break (it) Down” which premiered in the 2025 Kintetic Lab showcase at the Hatlen Theater. Her most recently contemporary ballet work titled “Helix” premiered in the show titled "Intra-” in the fall of 2025 at the Hatlen Theater. During her time at UCSB, she has also supplemented her dance education through attending dance intensives with Complexions Contemporary Ballet and A.I.M. by Kyle Abraham. In her final year at UCSB, she traveled to New York to perform with Complexions Contemporary Ballet in their 31st Anniversary Gala. In one of her last months at her university, she toured in Europe with the UCSB Dance Company. She performed at the Mirmar Sunan Fine Arts University Istanbul State University in Istanbul, Turkey, German Sport University in Cologne, Germany, Centrum Szutki Moscice in Tarnow, Poland, Gala 40 at the Vinohrady Theater and Taneční centrum Praha - konzervatoř in Prague, Czech Republic.
